Tuan Mu (b. 1994, Taiwan) is an artist, director and independent curator based in Taipei whose practice examines how the world can be understood and structured as a whole amidst shifting technological, cultural, and ecological conditions. Utilizing immersive technology, artificial intelligence, moving images, sound, ink painting and calligraphy, he investigates the contemporary interplay of different cosmologies, shaping systems of perception via embodied action, narrative, and temporality.
His artworks have been presented at public museums and research institutions worldwide, notably the Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, Beijing Times Art Museum, MAM Rio, CERN, RIXC Center for New Media Culture, Medrar for Contemporary Art and the ICA Yerevan. His work has been featured across multiple international platforms, such as Centro de Cultura Digital (Mexico City), Fabrika Center for Creative Industries (Moscow), and the Digital Art Center (Taipei). In parallel, Mu has also participated in numerous international art and film festivals, including the CURRENTS Art & Technology Festival, CineGlobe Film Festival, VIDEOFORMES, CYFEST International Media Art Festival, Athens Digital Arts Festival and the Bogotá Short Film Festival. A recipient of the Kaohsiung Award — HCS Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Works Special Award, his creative projects have been supported by the National Culture and Arts Foundation (NCAF) and Ministry of Culture Taiwan.
Tuan Mu's artistic inquiries into the body, writing, and the production of knowledge are extended by his work as a curator. His curatorial methods often rely on field studies and cross-cultural collaboration, viewing exhibitions as sites where cultural practices and public dialogues can take place. Projects curated by Mu have been selected by the NCAF's "Curator's Incubator Program @ Museums" and nominated for the Taishin Arts Award. Recent curatorial works include Humus (MOCA Taipei, Taiwan), Home: Foundation, Wall Cancer, Skin, and Shelter (Taitung Art Museum, Taiwan), and Beyond Interfaces: Taiwan Video Program (Mirzoyan Library, Armenia; CYFEST special program).
