KAN was born and lives in Hong Kong. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Fine Art from RMIT University and Hong Kong Art School in 2017. Her artistic practice rooted in psychoanalysis and her personal experiences focusing on various human conditions such as personal loss, sense of isolation and displacement.
In recent years, she has been captivated by the coexistence between vegetation and humans. Her works often adopts an expressionist approach, characterized by the use of blue tone and bold lines. Her current practice delves into the themes of liminality and impermanence, examining the concept of security juxtaposed with feelings of alienation and obliteration. She seeks to interrogate the notions of existence and distance, aiming to unveil the abstract sensations that hover on the threshold between sleeping and waking. This is achieved by blurring the boundaries between different time intervals. Furthermore, her works emphasize the obscure dislocation of time, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the delicate interval between daytime and night.
