Wooden sculptures by Ju Ming displayed indoors require no additional maintenance beyond regular dust removal. Routine cleaning with a soft-bristled brush is sufficient. Long-term indoor display will not cause any issues for the sculptures.

Wooden sculptures naturally adapt to the temperature and humidity of their environment; however, it is important to maintain good ventilation and stable humidity levels. Avoid placing the sculptures in areas with high humidity or near sources of moisture, and prevent prolonged direct exposure to sunlight.

In general, the optimal storage conditions for wooden sculptures are a temperature of approximately 20°C (comfortable room temperature) and a relative humidity of 50–65% RH.

  • Special Precautions

1.Before use, please ensure that all maintenance tools are completely clean. Do not use tools or materials that are not recommended. If there are foreign particles on cleaning cloths, such as cotton cloths, they may inadvertently scratch the surface of the sculpture during cleaning. Please pay extra attention to this.

2.Viewers wearing rings, watches, or other sharp accessories should exercise caution when approaching or touching the artwork to avoid accidentally scratching the surface.

3.Ju Ming's wooden sculptures intentionally preserve the natural texture of the wood and the visible chisel marks from large-scale carving. The original patterns, grain, and even minor cracks in the wood are an integral part of the artwork and do not indicate damage. Collectors are assured that these characteristics are intentional and do not affect the integrity of the piece.

  • 4.Do not use alcohol, brass polish, chemical cleaners, household cleaning agents, or furniture polish on the sculpture, as these substances may cause irreversible damage.

5.Pest infestation poses a significant threat to wooden sculptures. Please take preventive measures to avoid creating conditions that attract insects and refrain from placing the sculpture in areas that are vulnerable to insect intrusion.

  • Basic Cleaning Method

6.The basic cleaning method involves regularly using a soft-bristled brush to gently remove dust from the sculpture. Follow the recommended cleaning sequence: from top to bottom and from the inside outward. This helps prevent the accumulation of dust and dirt on the artwork.

While cleaning, it is also advisable to carefully inspect the sculpture for any irregularities. If any abnormalities are detected—such as noticeable deterioration, significant fading of painted surfaces, or other concerning conditions—please contact Asia Art Center immediately at +886-2-2754-1366. A professional team will assist with assessment and necessary conservation work.

7.Wooden sculptures are highly sensitive to sudden environmental changes, which may cause deformation or cracking. It is recommended to display the sculpture in a long-term, stable location to maintain its optimal condition.

8.If you wish to relocate the sculpture, please consult a professional and use appropriate tools to ensure safe handling. Before repositioning, make sure the base is stable, and carefully place the sculpture in its new location. Always lift the sculpture from its bottom section and avoid holding or applying pressure to fragile parts. For larger sculptures, it is advisable to have at least two people assist with the move.

9.If you notice any scratches, white spots, mold, insect damage, or other deterioration that has occurred after acquisition, please contact Asia Art Center at +886-2-2754-1366.
