In mid-2013, Li Chen was extensively covered by international media as the artist to host the largest scale of outdoor sculpture exhibition at the Place Vendome in Paris. He also appears at the Discovery Channel’s program Chineseness. “Chineseness – A Documentary Exhibition on Li Chen” features photographs on the artist’s creating process and world exhibition tour, and artist’s original sketches are also on display; more than a dozen new pieces from four series are premiered. The “Monumental Levity” of ink-black sculpture is the signature style from Li Chen’s Spiritual Journey Through the Great Ether series. In this exhibition, Li Chen introduces the color of “red” into the new work “Peony”. In addition, “Mood Swing” from Ethereal Cloud resembles the surging sea of clouds. In recent years, Li Chen has been particularly sensitive to the social and international issues. His compassion is reflected upon the two series Ordinary People and The Immortality of Fate: Living Soul. In these two series he uses raw materials to create rough surface texture, and the very different new form is surely amazing to art lovers.
