Following the exhibition “Monumental Levity-Li Chen 2013 Place Vendôme Solo Exhibition in Paris” that drew much attention in Europe, in 2015, Li Chen’s work is invited to exhibit at the Cannes Film Festival. He is the first artist to exhibit during the film festival.

Three artworks: 2007 “Floating Heavenly Palace”, 2002 ” Float to Sukhavati”, and 2007 “Snow Wonderland” will be on display outdoor at the beach LA PLAGE and indoor at the lobby of luxury hotel Hôtel Majestic Barrière. The hotel carries the feature of golden age of the Cote d’Azur, and is positioned right opposite of Palais des festivals. Each year highly regarded film stars, international directors, and committees walk on the red carpet to attend the event, while VIP guests engage themselves with exclusive parties in the evenings. Starting from 13 May to 24 May, the warmth of Li Chen’s ink-black sculptures will once again surround a brilliant event, bringing in spiritual and soulful experience to the visitors.

Cannes Film Festival (Festival de Cannes) was first organized in the southern France after World War II, it is considered one of the most influential film festivals in the world, enjoying the same status with Berlin Film Festival (Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin) and Venice Film Festival (Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica di Venezia). The visual of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival poster features Ingrid Bergman, paying tribute to the Swedish actress. The actress served as president of the fest’s jury in 1973. “(Bergman) changed roles and adoptive countries as the mood took her, but never lost sight of her quintessential grace and simplicity,” said the festival, adding that she embodies the values of “Liberty, audacity, modernity” that are shared by Cannes.

The president of organizer ADRProd, Antoine Dray, said: “Li Chen’s major outdoor sculpture exhibition in Paris opens up the possibility of a spiritual paradise in the most luxurious area in the city, creating enthusiastic feedbacks in Europe. The spirit of the artist is profound yet stays pure, which adhere to the Cannes Film Festival. We are honored to have been able to invite Li Chen to exhibit, which I believe shall resonate with art lovers.”

Li Chen believes that while sculpture is materialization of the mind, movies are seekers that peek into the soul of another person; the interpretation of such is so vivid that moves our hearts!
