HANG Chunhui China, b. 1976

HANG Chunhui, born in Anhui, China in 1976. he received his M.A. from Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing in 2005, and Ph. D. from Chinese National Academy of Arts in 2011. He currently lives and works in Beijing.  Hang combines changes in light projections with linear rolling motions of sculpture to construct a “paradoxical” way of viewing in his works, then blur the boundary between painting and sculpture. His works featured the visual aesthetic from the East and narrative of contemporary. He widely exhibited his artworks in museums, galleries and across China, USA, UK, Australia, Italy, and Danmark. In 2015, he was awarded the 5th Brewer J.C. Jacobsen s Portrait Award International Assessment and Times Art Museum Annual Artist Award. He joined the In Ink -Contemporary Chinese Ink Art, at Royal College of Art Gallery, Kensington, UK and Stories of the Life: Contemporary Chinese Art Exhibition at Adelaide Festival Centre, Adelaide, Australia in 2016. His important solo exhibitions include: The Incidental of the Fundamental – Hang Chunhui’s Art Practice (Guangdong Museum of Art, Guangzhou, 2020), Indefinite Rhetoric – Hang Chunhui Solo Exhibition (Asia Art Center, Beijing, 2019), Intertextuality – Hang Chunhui Solo Exhibition (Asia Art Center, Taipei, 2018), Ambiguity – Hang Chunhui 2017 (Asia Art Center, Beijing, 2017), Hang Chunhui Solo Exhibition (Hazlitt’s Gallery, New York, USA, 2015). Hang ’s public collection includes Guan Shanyue Art Museum, Guangdong Museum of Art, Chengdu Contemporary Art Gallery and Sichuan Fine Arts Institute Art Museum.
