Asia Art Center is pleased to participate in the 30th edition of Art Taipei, presenting works by Taiwanese master sculptors Ju Ming (1938-2023) and Li Chen (1963-); paintings by renowned artists Chuang Che (1934-), Dong Shaw-hwei (1962-), and Nobel Prize laureate, Gao Xingjian (1940-); as well as mixed media works by Chinese artist Chen Wenji (1954-).

Ju Ming’s “Living World Series – Ballet” wraps the polished stainless steel body in a ballet costume, presenting the dancer’s thoughts and emotions, dancing with elegant spatial dimensions. These works reflect Ju Ming’s emotions towards the harmony of life and the existence of all things. Chuang Che, Li Chen, Dong Shaw-hwei, Gao Xingjian and Chen Wenji incorporate their understanding and thoughts on Eastern aesthetics into their works, integrating East and West and developing their artistic languages.

The gallery is also keen to promote a wide range of works by artists from various continents, including Taiwanese artist Crystal Lupa’s (1989-) mesmerizing oil paintings; American artists Katja Farin’s (1996-) vibrantly coloured and intricate canvases that reflect the painter’s personal experiences; LA-based artist Kayla Mattes’(1989-) complex tapestries which present the weaver’s meticulous social observations, and Adam Parker Smith’s (1978-) humorous sculpture; whilst British artist Charlotte Keates’ (1990-) compositions reflect her interests in interior spaces and architecture; and Japanese artist Hime’s (1986-) works are heavily influenced by comic books, fashion and popular culture.

Despite coming from different backgrounds and cultures, the artists’ works echo their own experiences in relation to the society through various approaches and versatile media. The audiences are invited to interpret the works from their own perspectives and contemplate on the presentation of art in current society.
