David Brian Smith，1981 年生於英國伍爾弗漢普頓（Wolverhampton），來自於英格蘭施洛普郡的Smith在搬遷至倫敦工作、生活多年後，引發了他對重返鄉村的渴望。透過充滿魔幻風情的構圖與筆觸將家族背景與文化傳承轉移至畫布上，以此作為與其家族歷史回溯的一種方式。
畢業於伍爾弗漢普頓大學（Wolverhampton University）的什魯斯伯里藝術學院（Shrewsbury College of Art）以及倫敦切爾西藝術與設計學院（Chelsea College of Art and Design）。Smith的作品曾於多個藝廊與藝術機構展出，包括捷克奧洛穆茨電報基金會、Albert Baronian Gallery（布魯塞爾）、Carl Freedman Gallery（倫敦）、Wagdas Gallery（倫敦）、Galerie VidalCuglietta（布魯塞爾）、Neue Froth Kunsthalle（布萊頓）、Cul de Sac（倫敦）、Weltraum（慕尼黑）、Saatchi Gallery（倫敦）、Benderspace（倫敦）、Studio Voltaire（倫敦）、Susak（克羅埃西亞）、Long and Ryle Gallery（倫敦）、House Gallery（倫敦）及 Eagleworks Gallery（伍爾弗漢普頓）等。Smith 曾榮獲 2013 年 Creekside Open 獎項，以及 2005 年英國皇家藝術學院風景畫獎（Royal Academy Landscape Painting Award）。目前他於倫敦生活與創作。
Smith於 2023 年首次與亞洲藝術中心合作，參與於北京空間舉辦的 On the Voyage 聯展，而 Speed is my superpower 則是他在台灣的首場個展。
